Yin and Yang

Our philosophy is harmony and balance between funds in and funds out

FEI NZ was established in 2003 as a financial services company. The founders, TK Shim and Mel Stewart wanted an organisation that was based on relationship, personal service and professional expertise.

TK Shim’s background was in corporate banking, with Investment relationships, cash flow lending and credit skills. He also brought a philosophy of incremental precision and oriental elegance to the company’s DNA. Mel Stewart had deep roots in the rural sector and extensive experience in business and property asset based finance. His broad connections were matched with entrepreneurial flair, creative instincts and marketing skills.

They are the yin and yang of FE Investments, and FE’s services reflect this same philosophy in the two sides of FE’s business – harmony and balance between funds in and funds out.

Peace of Mind

FE’s objective is to provide our customers, depositors and borrowers with peace of mind. Depositors seek a good return on their term investment, but want certainty that their money is safe. Borrowers want an understanding of their financial objectives with funding at a competitive rate.

By granting credit with a proactive and positive approach, we back success and provide both sides of the financial equation with the desired outcome.

FE makes that happen by funding New Zealand businesses who have been assessed as worthy of support. And, by spreading our lending over a wide range of industries and businesses, we ensure that investor deposits are secure.

Ownership of FEI Group Limited

In 2017, FE Investments Ltd, through acquisition and merger, became an subsidiary of FE Investments Group Ltd (FEIG), a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as FEI.AX.

This listing means that FEIG moves forward with its ambitious growth aspirations for investments and lending products in both New Zealand and Australia.

New Zealand
FEI NZ has been operating since 2003 and is a non-bank deposit taker operating under the regulations of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Our performance is monitored by Trustee Executors Ltd on behalf of depositors.

In January 2019, FEIG acquired an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL License: 408024) in Australia and is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) via their subsidy Australian entity FEI Finance Ltd (FEI AU).

FEI’s focus is the leasing of business equipment and technology products for the SME market. Over the next three years it is expected that this business sector will nearly double and represent just over 50% of FEI’s loan book.

FEI Credit Rating

As at 4 October 2019, S&P’s credit rating report for FE Investments Limited (NZ) has affirmed its “B” long-term issuer credit rating and changed its outlook from negative to stable. For more information, visit the Standard & Poor’s website.
